Signage
The decision to open advertising opportunities on the Highway 16/41 pylon sign was made as a temporary measure to generate revenue while the remaining phases of the business park are being developed. Over time, the Town received considerable feedback from residents and stakeholders regarding the sign remaining largely vacant, prompting discussions by the Economic Development Committee on how best to utilize this community asset in the interim.
As a result, the Committee supported allowing a limited number of businesses outside the immediate development area to advertise on the sign. This approach helps offset operating costs, generates revenue, and ensures the sign remains active and visible while the business park continues to grow. As development progresses and additional businesses establish within the park, these temporary advertising placements will be phased out and priority will be given to businesses located within the development.
It is important to note that the Highway 16/41 pylon sign was partially funded through the Northern and Regional Economic Development (NRED) grant program, making it important that the sign be effectively utilized and provide ongoing economic benefit to the community during this transitional development period.
At the present time, advertisement has been limited to Bricks-and-mortar businesses physically located within the Town of Vermilion in the following sectors:
- Downtown Retail Sector
- Restaurant and Food Services Sector
- Businesses must:
- Hold a valid Town of Vermilion Business License
- Be in good standing with the Town (including taxes, bylaws, and other municipal requirements)
Advertising opportunities are reviewed on an ongoing basis by the Economic Development Committee and will be posted as they become available. For more information on advertising on the Junction 16/41 pylon sign, please contact economic@vermilion.ca.
